See How Telespar Was Used To Make A Hunting Standhunting stand made with telespar

Unlike Telespar telescoping tubing, which is specially designed and used for sign post applications, Telespar mechanical tubing can be used for industrial applications and a wide variety of weekend DIY projects. Below is a case study of how one of our customers took a simple wooden hunting stand design and recreated it by using Telespar mechanical tubing and Grip Strut Grating.

A One-of-a-Kind Hunting Stand

Our customer wanted to build a tree stand for hunting that would be heavy duty and could withstand the elements. Rather than using wood though, which would eventually rot and decay, he chose to use Telespar and Grip Strut Grating to create something that would be one-of-a-kind. He started with a wooden design template and began replacing the wood with mechanical tubing. He eventually came up with the following materials and built his hunting stand.

  • The entire support structure was built out of 1-3/4", 14 gauge Telespar perforated tubing, powder coated black (16D12).
  • The upper portion of the ladder was connected to the lower portion of the ladder with 1-1/2", 12 gauge tubing (14F12).
  • The platform was built using 12 gauge, 7" x 1-1/2" Grip Strut Grating. Grip Strut Butterfly Washers and a 3/8" bolt connected the grating to the tubing
  • The tubing sections were connected to one another using 3/8" x 4" long bolts and secured with 3/8" lock nuts.
  • The stand was finished off with a 4' x 8' burlap camouflage wrap.
